5 Ways to Style the GoldenGlow

Celebrity stylist Jason Bolden is all about telling stories with his looks. Just ask actress Ella Balinska. The two have been a dynamic duo for years, and together, they have created some truly memorable fashion moments on red carpets, at fashion weeks, and more. His next style challenge? Finding five ways to style our It-Sandal of the season, the GoldenGlow. Let’s get into each look!
Your Revenge Look
Jason: So, you got the ‘Revenge Look’ with a pop of color. This look is perfect for a night out with the girls. But also easy, comfy, and kind of rock star.
Ella: You know I always love wearing a little leather – something that’s a little reflective.
Jason: You love wearing black, but you lean into it in such a tough yet feminine way.
Ella: —I love black so much, so this look is totally me!
Jason: And lately black with a pop of color, which is your new favorite thing. And the GoldenGlow Sandal just works for this particular moment.
Ella: I think what makes this a ‘Revenge Look’ is it has intention, an ulterior motive. It has a specific goal in mind. And I love dressing that way.

Jason’s Style Tip: Proportions. Proportions. Proportions.
Jason: I always tell my clients that proportions are everything. With this look, I went with a super-short skirt, a relaxed, oversized blazer, and a crop top. This way you get to show off the look and the shoe.
Your Resort Chic Look
Jason: With this look, you get to mix everything up. You get to play with neutrals.
Ella: It’s the monochrome, for me.
Jason: You get to play with pops of color, but we’re going to stick with neutrals for this ‘Resort Chic’ look.
Ella: Something that really elevates a look is when everything is one color. I really love matching hardware, so in this case silver.
Jason: This is what I love. This is what I know you love.
Ella: Give me a silver earring. Give me a silver bracelet.

Jason’s Style Tip: More Hardware
Jason: Use hardware as your pop. Zippers. Bracelets. Whatever you got. We went heavy here, but it adds the perfect amount of layer and texture to this monochrome look.
Your Grunge Look
Jason: This look is quintessential to you. When you’re on stage DJing, this is what you’re most likely wearing.
Ella: I feel like myself in this look. It’s edgy. It’s cool. It’s easy. And it’s comfortable.
Jason: This is how I see you. It’s so cool. It’s crazy comfortable. And adding the GoldenGlow Sandal to this look does nothing else but elevate it.
Ella: This Sea Salt color is a staple in my wardrobe. I know I could pretty much rock these with a skirt, jeans, and sweats. The list goes on.

Jason’s Style Tip: Commit To The Bit
Jason: If you’re ever feeling nervous about a look, don’t be scared. As long as you are dressing for you, it will work. Just commit to the bit!
Your Blue Festival Look
Jason: So, I love this look because of its versatility.
Ella: I love this look, too. It’s fun. It can go from day to night easily.
Jason: The skirt with the slit is something you can wear at night, and then the button-down is something you can mix with anything throughout the day.
Ella: It’s something that feels very festival.
Jason: This lime green pop is the thing that gives this look attitude and playfulness. And this UGGlet [a custom, beaded ankle bracelet] designed by Susan Alexandria is everything.

Jason’s Style Tip: Mix Colors
Jason: I love playing with colors, and that’s what I love about this look. Don’t be afraid to mix these colors. Use something vibrant with something classic and basic. It always seems to take things to the next level.
Jason: This look is one of my favorites, and a great way to play up the perfect micro-mini skirt, sweater, and button-down shirt.
Ella: This look reminds me a lot of my mom, which is quite nice! She used to wear a lot of looks like this when I was growing up, and I used to want to borrow all of them.
Jason: It’s a mix of everything I love. There’s nostalgia there. I love all things Clueless. I am playing with proportions, textures, and colors. Whites. Grays. Black. And a pop of this cloudy blue. So, again, texture and layers can make anything super collegiate and chic.
Ella: Yeah, there’s an element of nostalgia but fashion-forward nostalgia, which we love.

Jason’s Style Tip: Socks With Sandals? Yes!
Jason: I like to call it layering. A little texture on texture. It’s the perfect way to make that subtle statement. In terms of height, I think it goes back to proportion. Micro-mini skirt – there are two ways you can go. You can go super high or above the calf. There is no true way, but it always goes back to proportion and what complements you best.
